That's not such a big problem, IMHO: there is now a core group who understand what OSM is and that it can be fixed, and when things change, it provides an impetus to keep engaging with the project. One of the things that I find difficult here in Munich is that so much is already perfect that it simply isn't a "target-rich environment" anymore.
