The Talk2 List the default show presents a salute to patriots

While the majority of outlets will spend their forth of July programming offering up a myriad of sickeningly sweet “we love America” in more forms then there are beads on an abacus, I’d like to take this opportunity to focus in on the definition of Patriotism. Despite the conservative slant, of patriotism being an undying devotion to George W. and the actions the country takes under his leadership, patriotism is a strong undying devotion to your country. The country is not the actions any one leader takes, more, it is the set of ideals by which are overall embodied by that country. America has a history that is very torn and blemished, I doubt you’ll find many who would claim otherwise, but at its heart America has offered something that the world needed, freedom, a safe haven for those needing a new start, and the allowance of dissenting voices to be heard. In recent years, this  has taken a backseat to what I’ve entitled the “big brother complex”, the idea of which Americans must all bow deeply before their leader, no matter what he does, and god forbid you speak out, you’ll be marked a traitor.             However through out history, there have always been those willing to stand up for the American ideals, and this forth of July on my show, I’ll be paying tribute to such great men as John Lennon, Bob Dillon, bands like the clash, sex pistils and more current acts like bright eyes, antiflag and more.  Individuals who’ve shown a true commitment to what I and many view as the American dream, these individual(s) don’t hate America, in fact they love it, and what it stands for. I hope that many listening will see this, and take a good long look at their values, and more importantly be made aware of whats going on in the world around them.
