The Talk2 List book review: A Eurasian inferiority complex
In his newest collection,
A Eurasian Inferiority Complex, best-selling author Dennis Shields creates
a world filled with charming and unforgettable characters. A Polar Bear
and a girl Scout might, at first glance, appear to have nothing in common,
but like all of the inhabitants of Shields world, both
express a desire to escape from the confines of the linguistic parking
lot. Though the fates of his characters are left to the
reader's imagination, it is clear that Shields himself has left the
linguistic parking lot in a cloud of dust. Stove-pipes and food stamps
become experiencers, and scythes become patients. Surly cargo bays are not
afraid to turn to spiders for assistance. This is post-postmodern
literature in its purest form.
