My lab is effectively destroyed. Massive storm here in NJ has flooded me out.
All functioning equipment was dismantled and removed because of rushing
incoming water. LOTS of it. And i mean lots. And bad decision, a hardwire dsl
filter was installed, so all the upstairs lines wont run broadband. Only the
flooded out downstairs. So Venison Stew will have to be offline until further
notice. Meaning, until i can get the place dried and cleaned out, repaired, and
rewired. With much better funtionality. And to give you an idea how bad it
was here, you can read further below at some local conversations during the
height of this storm. The following takes place in about 3 hours. This is in
no way exagerrated.

                                                 4-15-2k7
venison88: holy FUCK! MAJOR flooding y'all!
Temptress: oh god. I haven't stepped outside today
Temptress: we flood a lot around here, this is going to be great tomorrow
venison88: i cant believe how FAST the water levels rose! water is actually
fountaining out of some of the cracks in the floor!
and it was COMPLETELY dry down here when i went to bed!
venison88: all the streams and rivers are flooding! they're already doing
evacuations, even here in town.
Temptress: and you go to bed late, lol
Temptress: what? holy fuck
Temptress: well, we live in the heights at home, so we're probably ok
venison88: yeah, its bad. and the rain intensity wont let up until late
tonight.
Temptress: as if we didn't have enough thursday
venison88: wow! i just had to pull the plug on the drain at the far end of the
basement. its like pulling the plug on a bathtub!
ZoRoK: ah wow there shutting roads down
ZoRoK: they have the road shut down going past the school i wonder if the
stream is bleeding into the street lol
Dot: I know, just came back from a walk... my neighborhood is BAD....
firefighters are trying to save people on the dead ends on the next block over
Dot: not to mention my basement is FLOODED and my cousin is coming over to try
and help
(To Zorok) venison88: just got back. went around the city, and yours. its BAD
dude! 22 is shut down in so many places, its unuseable. and one great thing. my
skywarn id card got me through barracades. i flashed the card, and the cops
just said, ok, but be careful. :-)
venison88: cedarbrook park is COMPLETELY underwater. its now cedarbrook bay.
:-P
ZoRoK525: o i want to buy a boat now!
ZoRoK525: haha
venison88: you might wanna consider it. if that dam in watchung breaks.....
;-)
ZoRoK525: dam they got route 22 shut down?
venison88: yup
venison88: right at watchung ave
venison88: the 7-11's flooded
venison88: oh fuck! water is coming in FROM the drain! gotta cap it
ZoRoK525: ah i see road block down the street from me
ZoRoK525: LOL
ZoRoK525: hell said no more water drain off today HERE YA GO hahaha

venison88: holy FUCK y'all!!! the main comp is offline. all the electronics
had to be evacuated out of the basement. almost a foot of water and STILL
rising. that might not sound like much, but TRUST me! it IS!. this house has
NEVER EVER seen more than a thin film on the floor. its coming in through the
drains bigtime. hot water heater and furnace already shut off. i'm on the
bedroom comp on dialup. theres no sound up here. so we are offline show wise
until rebuilding. its really really bad here folks.

pr0tias: get everything now?
venison88: mostly. thank GOD we're in an "eye gap". it stopped raining for now.
long enough i HOPE for that drain to go OUT again, instead of in. but its a
mess down there. shows offline for awhile. hearing sirens everywhere
pr0tias: tornado warnings yet?
venison88: no. too cold
venison88: now since i got a digital camera, wait till you see the pics. ;-)
pr0tias: not necessarily, WI has had a tornado in every month except february.
i wouldnt imagine NJ would be much different
pr0tias: heh
venison88: bbl. making email notifications, and going to try and get some
mainstream communications back online up here

viper matrixx: i'd say you should probably go get some butt caps from somewhere
viper matrixx: pop off the drain, butt it up, no more water
venison88: wont help. it was coming in from the floor, and cracks in the walls.
too. but now, YAAAAY!!! it stopped raining long enough for shit to start
draining out, and i can turn the furnace back on. good thing too. its getting
damned cold out, and now the high winds come in from the back end of the storm.
but the damage is done. we're definately offline showise for repairs. dont know
for how long.
