I've never connected the Windows connection to one of those things -
would be interested in seeing what <actually happens>.

 

OCR is the it's always going to work fallback because it's looking for
an image on the screen - and yes it can detect a cursor image (I've got
a handy trick for this for looking for a "blinking" cursor if that's the
road to go.

 

It may be a similar to Flash where it's really just painting pictures -
so in that case OCR is the way to go.
