Oh, I reread your question and realized you were asking a somewhat
different question than I first though. It seems you're doing some text
file manipulation. I don't use data station for that. I use a text file
class I borrowed from a BWS developer that works for me. What logic do
you use to process the file? I might have a simpler way to do it.

What I do is periodically close the file. I'll call this after getting
the next record to see if I should close the file and if so it opens the
file back up at the correct record.

Sub zCheckSave(iRecord As Integer, sFile As String)

' Used to save updates to xls file after #N records.

' For example:

' If D.Record Mod 500 = 0 Then zCheckSave 500, F("FileIn")

Dim iTemp As Integer

iTemp = d.Record

If d.Record Mod iRecord = 0 Then

            d.Close_

d.Open_ sFile, ftExcel

d.Record = iTemp

End If

End Sub

Subject: [talkbws] Multiple BDS files and D.Report

I am attempting to create a report from a large text file (2600 rows)
and when I find what I am looking for I set the status in Datastation =
1 this way BWS will just re-write those files into a smaller file.

My problem is due to the size, BWS is creating two BDS files (BDS, and
BDS1) but at time of compiling the report it is ignoring the BDS1 file
and not writing my files into the output report. The current file I am
testing against the records I wish to write are 1518 thru 1532 , I could
see the status set = 1 in the BDS1 file. But they do not show up in my
output report.

Could anyone help me solve this issue
