I should mention to that I use this function because IDXTerm is a
Terminal Emulator that uses windows pop ups so I am connect primarily
via another connection type hence the need to break off and connect to a
windows connection, deal with the windows pop up, and then return.

Subject: [talkbws] RE: Watching for a Message Box

Greetings,

Is this a dialog box coming from an windows application you are
scripting?

Let's say it is from a windows app you are scripting - means you're
already connected to the app - and BWS should be seeing the dialog when
it appears.

First thing you need to do is see about the text in the dialog box - is
it showing up in a control or not.

The example I saw come across is for a dialog box where the message does
show up as a control. Note though, it may not be the same type of
control on your application as it is in theirs.

Windows is a very wide ranging world - there's all the Microsoft GUI
models, Powerbuilder, etc etc. and people can even make their own stuff.

I wish the world was as simple as it appears... Good news is, we've seen
a lot of this world and can help!

Couple of things to try before giving Support a call here.

Go into the Advanced Windows Functions - Window List -> refresh (here
assuming the dialog is displayed and you are connected to the app)

Scan down to see if you see the text you'd want to read.

If you do - good, means you can select it in the list, go back, and
build a view command - deal with the data etc.

If you do not, well means you've got a bit more work to do - and we can
help here.

Go into Advanced Windows Functions - Textouts

Select Start

Alt tab to your app and back to this view

Stuff should show up - see if your desired text is there. We can assist
from here.

Regards,

Thom

Subject: [talkbws] Watching for a Message Box

I need to create a script to watch for windows message boxes. Then to
either click "OK", "Yes" or "No" depending on what is in the message
box.

I have not had to create any scripts in the past that interacts with
windows applications. Does anyone have an example similar to what I
need, I could model. Or a link to an area of the BWS website that may
help me?
