Greetings,

There is a fundamental problem with services. They are geared towards
background processes that are separate from end user, desktop things.
Scripts are end user, desktop things.

Now one could have a dumb (dumb here not being a derogative term btw)
- that just launches stuff - Windows Task scheduler is a good example
- and I know of folks that run scripts that way. You could have Windows
Task Scheduler load a BWS project that has a Schedule configured for
example.

Our belief is that it is important that the scheduler not be dumb, it
should know about the script it is running - so it cannot run another
script until the last one is done regardless of the timing. If you try
to make a service scheduler not dumb, eventually some needed scripting
functionality (especially things to do with Windows Scripting, or
anything that needs to react to events on the PC) becomes impossible
because it is tied in with the script itself.

Regards,

Thom

Subject: [talkbws] BWS Scheduler

It appears that Boston Workstation has to be running for the scheduled
tasks to fire. Are there any plans for a BWS service to be implemented
in the software?
