Greetings,

It evaluates true in the Immediate window likely because it is executing
the "raw code" there.

You can't have a View command in the Rules tree view of a condition
because it is being treated as a "literal value"

In your case though, you don't need it.

Change the Condition in the Rules GUI to be:

mess...@*,*,none fo...@*,*

Note, I could have included the exact locations of the text none found

mess...@*,*,none fo...@3,9

But I prefer with error messages like this to use the wildcard.

Make this change, and you'll be all set. Call support if you have
questions.

Regards,

Thom

Subject: [talkbws] Meditech CS 5.64 Rule Puzzle

Hi folks, I have tried a couple of varients of this rule without
success. The message box is active, and I have verified the text from
the view command in the immediate window. But the rule is evaluated as
false. I'm sure to have overlooked something simple. Any suggestions?

ElseIf Step = "CHECK BATCH MESSAGES" Then

        If Rule("mess...@*,*&trim(lcase(view(row:=3, col:=9,
length:=10))) = 'none found'") Then

            Step = "NO BATCHES FOUND"

            Exit Sub

        End If

ElseIf Step = "CHECK BATCH MESSAGES" Then

        If Rule("mess...@*,*&trim(lcase(view(row:=3, col:=9,
length:=10))) = "none found"") Then

            Step = "NO BATCHES FOUND"

            Exit Sub

        End If

Thanks,
