Rick,

Syncing dictionaries is one of the primary uses of Boston WorkStation.
Typically this is something new users have foremost in their minds, but
usually they're thinking of specific dictionaries...charge masters, GL
accounts, etc.

One of our customers, Ross Stolle of Avera McKennan Hospital, had the
idea of a script that would bring up two dictionary screens, one TEST
and one LIVE, and make one match the other, regardless of their layout
or content. His script is reproduced on our Web site at:

http://www.bostonworkstation.com/ftp/TestLiveDictionary.htm

This works for a specific dictionary and requires a downloaded report
indexing the dictionaries' content. It would be an interesting exercise
to extend this script to multiple dictionaries. The primary addition,
to Ross' script would be the creation of the dictionaries' index
downloads. There may also be an issue with the order in which
dictionaries are synched, since some dictionaries may depend on others.

Subject: RE: [Talk] Help with coding

Is there a script floating around out there that will sync Meditech
CLIENT/SERVER dictionaries? Also, If anyone is using this process, How
and when do you determine when to sync the dictionaries? We had a
discussion here yesterday and managers were concerned with dumping bad
data from live to test or test to live. I would just like to get an
idea of procedures. Thanks
