BWS land...
I got this request from our clinical analyst.
Do any hospitals out there using BWS (or anyone with any ideas) have a thought
about this question?
I'm interested in finding out if anyone has tried to do the following with
Boston Work Station or if it can
be done and how labor intensive it would be.
We are a Meditech magic hospital and on our Administrative Data Screen we have
three fields for MRSA / VRE.
They are the most recent date of the last culture and whether it was MRSA, VRE
or both. We have set up numerous
mechanism to try to flag staff and or get staff to pick up on a patient with a
hx, document, notify appropriate
persons etc and we have failed.
Now this is what I want to know if BWS can Do....
The data above is enter via lab and nursing can not edit it, so I would like
BWS to run a script every 30 min or
hour or (possibly using a socket connect to our Admissions ADT) to check all
new admits to see it those fields
have any data and if so if the date in the field is within 6 months of the
admit date.
Then BWS sends a message to the patients location computer, the nurse manager
for location,
the infection control nurse and the risk manager for the hospital.
