It's probably worth asking him what's the best product to do «specific CAN-BUS-related thing». Arduino's somewhat limited compared to newer platforms, but if it's what you've got ... (he might also have a solution for the out-of-stock cable, too) Craig used to sell Carloop products - https://store.carloop.io/ - but I don't see them on his site any more.
