There is a race on to secure as many chips from NVIDIA as possible, the question of stopping AI certainly suggests not participating very vigorously in the race. It implies losing any influence over the direction of AI. The question of "alignment" is a hard one, and I'm not sure we have a solid handle on the question of regulating social media.
