I think XML is the cleanest method to abstract not only content from design, but from code as well. If you take a look at this sample site, you can see a simple implementation. I'm working up a generic framework or CMS that will use this approach.

If you have any suggestions, I'm happy to hear them. But most of my current websites are many pages, one script sorts of websites. I don't like Smarty or other similar solutions; but, in using XSLT, I can generate any sort of output I need -- like RSS or XHTML... or CSV.

Maybe you can implement a similar solution?
