Hello,
I have a PCMCIA rs232 for my t61 and it works great.
When using a USB->rs232 under windows, running ubuntu in a VM, I notice
really low throughput or just tons of lag.
Not sure why, but the performance is abysmal.

USB->serial connectors are cheap, plentiful, and work like a charm in
Windows and Linux.
