I have asked tech support at the hosting company to enable the php_zip extension for me. The person I am dealing with has told me that PHP has to be recompiled for this, because of what this page says:
http://us2.php.net/manual/en/zip.installation.php Now I am by no means a server expert, but I enabled this same extension yesterday on our development box by simply un-commenting it in the php.ini file, stopping and restarting the server.
