there are times when the w e control panel is supposedly closed but w e
still speaks the list anyway until you left mouse click on the desktop to
put focus on the desktop or try windows d.
and no control shift w does not read the screens most of the time.
especially pop up dialog messages. it just says o k. maybe if you use the
vertual view app?
***
you don't need to use numpad 5. you get this info when you arrow down t
he list.
you also don't have to wade through the whole list if you know the first few
letters of the program you are looking for.
like with wineyes. press w and it will show all the apps that start with w.

Subject: win 8.1
in windows 8.1 does the shift control w key read the screen? I can't get it
to work anywhere on the Lenovo laptop. Also, when in all apps, control
numpad 5 won't read the app I'm on, nor reading letter by letter. I find the
mouse point about useless on my system. Also, getting out of wineyes control
panel has been a problem. I'm starting to wonder if something went wrong in
the installation of windows 9.
