I was told that if you put files on a usb drive you can play audio files
(mp3) but there has to be nothing else on the drive and the drive has to
be the root directory. I tried it and it works. This is to play music on
the NLS players using a usb fdrive that hooks into the side of the
player the one you ordinarily download talking books to in order to play
them on the player without having to have them mailed to you.

I was just going to say the same thing. On my digital player, MP3
files on a USB flash drive or cartrige, have to be placed in a special
folder called audio+podcasts. They will not be recognized any other way.

Pam, I have always used a folder called audio+podcasts, that's audio
plus sign podcasts on NLS cartridges to play mp3 files. I tried mp3
plus sign podcasts and the player wouldn't recognize the folder. What
am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Yes. If you mix mp3 files on a cartridge or thumb drive, they must be
put
in a folder that you mmust create called "mp3+podcasts". That's mp3,
the
plus sign, and the word podcasts all in one word. But if you are just
putting them on a cartridge or drive by themselves, they can just go on
the
root of the drive or cartridge. Caution, though: the NLS player won't
play
mp4 files, so they must be converted to mp3, or you must get the same
thing
in an mp3 file. Pam.
