Hello folks.

I wanted to make sure that Doug, Aaron, Steve, Chris, and the rest of
the folks (including everybody else on this list) knows about the bug
I've discovered still not resolved.
The problem happens specifically when you enable the insert key layout
mode and bring up Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer, or basically
anything where browse mode is necessary and you go to enter something
in to any web form edit box control.

Basically, keys at least ont his keyboard, like e, (and possibly
others) seem to be ignored utterly by Window-Eyes while insert key
layout is enabled.

I have to use bypass mode or turn off insert key layout mode entirely
in order for keys to respond as designed while typing in to any web
form. Otherwise like I say, half the keys quit being intercepted
properly by Window-Eyes, requiring either a byypass command so that
the application receives them, or again, to turn off the insert key
layout mode.

I'd like to be able to use the insert key layout app and not have this
problem occur.

This problem still appears to be present in Window-Eyes latest stable release.

Let's see.

I'v d th ist yot mod. ow ots o kys r ot ig itptd popy.
What I just basically tried to type thre should have come out as:
Let's see.
I've enabled insert key layout mode.
Now half the keys on my keyboard are no longer working properly, or
something to that effect.

Why don't you try running the browsers on your machines at AISquaired
and seeing what happens.

Maybe you can release an update that resolves this problem.

Note, that this behavior wont' happen if I use notepad, and as far as
I know any other application (though you may wish to be sure of this
by doing some tests with insert key layout turned on)

Double check to see if keys are being seen by the browsers.

Judging by my screweed up message where I litterally tried to pres
keys like a, e, etc, half the keys were not being passed through the
moment insert key layout was turned on.

but when turnd off, the keyboard keys were all seeen as if there were
no problems.

So I do not know of anything else I can tel you to even solve the problem.

This problem has existed undetected and apparently not noticed by
anybody for a very long time actually going back to probably when the
layout was first added.

I used ot have issues occasionally with say insert F7 rather than
trigggering the browse mdoe list of links etc, occasioanlly say things
like no user window or something crazy like that.

I don't know if that bug still exists, but you may want to test under
prolonged browse mode useage.

I hope this helps you effectively at least if nothing else, conduct some tests.

I would appreciate you folks getting hold of me even off list if you need to.

If you need me to produce audio recordings of this behavior, I can do
so as well, but I think you trying to reproduce this on your end with
insert key layout mode enabled first is a good idea.

Thanks, Doug, aaron, and all ther est who may be abel to figure out
why this interception bug most surely still exists specific apparently
to when typing in edit boxes inside any of the web browsers
Window-Eyes supports as long as insert key layout is enabled.

I tested to see if keyboard interception is effected in Microsoft
Outlook and Notepad.

This was not the case.

I do not know about WordPad or Word respectively, but I doubt it.

Though a test there wouldn't hurt either.

Just try typing with insert key layout in to any web form you want to
see if any keys suddenly stop being past through to the application.

Hope this helps somebody solve this problem.

In case it helps, I'm testing with both Internet Explorrer and Mozilla
firefox. Windows 8.1 64 Professional, and latest Window-Eyes, and
office 2010 installed here.

But I also recall this bug happening to me in Windows 7 with the
insert key layout app as well, so I do not think it will matter what
OS you test under.

Sincerely,

Keith
