Hi Dave,

As for your new computer, budget is the first consideration, but for just 700
US dollars I guess you can buy a very excellent system.

But because I Live outside US, I will give you some recommendations as
regarding specifications.

First, go for two hard drive system, the primary as SSD perhaps 128GB or 256GB,
then the second drive go for something like Western Digital 2TB or higher.
SSD brands like Crucial are nowadays very reliable and improve the system
reliability and responsiveness a lot.

As processor, go for the best you can afford, such as I5 or I7 fourth
generation.

Memory is an important factor, here invest also, go for at least 8GB or
preferably 16GB RAM.

As graphics card 2gb basic is enough.

For the rest of the components such as dvd-rom or dvd-blue-ray drive get
whatever you like.

If you have further questions, do not hesitate to ask me.

Michael

Subject: Quad, or Six, or eight core Chips?

Hello,

I am considering having a system built from scratch, as it might be cheaper,
since I already have all of my programs, and OS on Disc.

Today there are quad core, and chips with 6 and 8 Cores.

I am looking to purchase the Fastest Chip and Memory I can
afford. I can not afford the Fastest chip on the market, but
something a lot less expensive.

I was thinking of a Quad core I7 or a Quad core AMD Chip. then I came across
the chips with 6 and 8 cores.

I am not going to play any sort of games. I will only be using MS Office, and
a Web Browser.

Web Speed is mostly controlled by the sort of Inter net service I pay for.

However, I do enjoy a quick and responsive system, even when doing nothing more
than calling up files in Office.

All of that to ask, should I bother with considering a 6 or 8 core chip?

I figure most programs I am likely to use, may not use but one or two
cores. But, I do enjoy a snappy response no matter what program I am using.

I thought of installing a Solid State Drive, as from what I have seen, these
drives just about double a systems over all speed.

I was hoping to avoid the SSD units at this time, as I do not know the
reliability, and length of life I can achieve from an SSD unit.

But, if any of you have some knowledge on these SSD units, or whether
or not a 6 or 8 core chip is over kill I would be interested in your
comments.
