Hi Karyn I am running defender on my win 8.1 laptop and its good.
But I read on net that it is better then microsoft security so that is why i am looking at others.
I under stood both was the same program but not sure now.Cheers Michael.

I am now using Windows Defender on my netbook. We removed Vipre as it was causing issues and severely slowing down this machine.

As I said previously, I don't recommend Vipre unless you have at least 4 and preferably 6 gb of RAM. Vipre is a system hog which is why you need more RAM.
