Hello to the List,
Earlier I asked about doing Searches of the Hard Drive in Window 7
Professional. A couple of you were kind and wrote what you do to
run a Search on the HD. Unfortunately, nothing suggested seemed to
work for me.
Which has me wondering why. But, never the less, I did finally
figure a way to find what I am looking for about 90 per cent of the time.
Here is what I do:
I Press CTRL and the ESC keys to bring up the Start Button, and the
Search entry Field
I type in the name of the file I am Searching for and press the Enter key.
I then Tab around until I hear Favorites. I Tab one more time, where
I land on Item List Box.
I then press the Right Arrow key until I reach a Button labeled Computer.
I then Press the Enter key, which then starts searching the HD for
what you typed in the Search field.
On my System, I have the Tones Beep as the Search progresses. When
the Search is finished, you will be in a List of files, where you can
arrow up or down with the arrow keys.
Move to the file you need, and then Press Shift F10. Arrow down
until you reach, Open File Location and press Enter.
This will take you to the folder where the file is found.
From here you are on your own as to what to do next. I am still
looking for what will tell me the location of the file without
actually going there. I am sure there is a method, I just haven't
stumbled upon it yet.
I know Windows might be slightly different due to the way it was
installed and set up on any given System. So for you that gave me
suggestions, I think you for taking the time. Every little bit is
meant to be helpful, and if it doesn't help, then hopefully, it gives
me something to work on until I figure it out.
I can say that I find Win 7 to be very different from Win xP.
