Have you tried ctrl-shift-W twice in succession? That sometimes works for nonstandard windows such as those produced by the Mozilla family of programs. This function was introduced somewhere in the Window-Eyes 8.X series.

Subject: Unable to Read Dialogs in Thunderbird

Hello everyone, I am having problems reading various windows in
Thunderbird. I can read and write messages, but I can't use the mouse
pointer on any window. Every time I try, it just dings at me, and every
time I use control shift W to read a window, for example in a dialogue,
it just reads the window title. I have found that the window is
maximized, so that isn't the problem. Is there something I could have
accidentally set in Thunderbird to make this happen?
