Hi Robin,

Okay, you press Control-F to begin a search in Word.
Once you type in the search phrase, press Enter to start the search.
Assuming you don't get a message that it's not found, then you can assume
that it was found.
Press Shift-F6 to jump back to the document pane, and the search text will
be highlighted, which you could read with Control-Shift-M, but who cares,
since you know what you searched for.
At this point, what I do is press Control-LeftArrow to move the cursor back
a word and this automatically unselects the highlight and you can navigate
back and forth and get a sense of the context of the search text within the
document.
If you want to jump back into the search pane, then F6 will do this.
Also, the Word shortcut key to find the next occurrence in the forward
direction in your document is Control-Alt-Y.

Hth,

Rod

Subject: Word 2010 - Using the search pane

I moved to Word 2010 well after many on this list, so I know this is a
repeat question. I am not having consistent success with using the search
navigation pane for jumping to desired text. I cannot seem to find
instructions in the knowledge base, in the WE manual or in my how to book
for using WE with Word 2010. I know to use F6 to move between panes, but
after I type a word in the search field, I cannot figure out how to get to
the options and successfully move to that spot within my word document. Can
someone please indulge me with a lesson or a resource? Thanks! (My
workaround at the moment is to use the Go To dialog, but I know there are
some advantages to the new search pane.)
