Dave, I haven't used it much, but here's what I can tell you. There are a few ways to get to the To Do list. The best two I have found are to use Control 4 to go directly to it or to pick it from the list when you use Control Y to see all folders. Once there, the only two Views that I have found work consistently are the Detailed or Simple views. Detailed it verbose, but it's what you'll want in order to see start and due dates and such. If you just need a reminder place but tend to recall your own due dates, the simple view is definitely cleaner.
It also seems that either consistently or regularly, WE does not read the first item in the list. That is because that line is where you can type a new task entry. I added a couple to do items to my list by flagging emails for follow-up. Then I went to the to do list by hitting Control 4 and found my two flagged tasks with the empty line at the top of the list. The To Do pane seems like a cool concept for visual users, but I could not figure out how to navigate it with WE, even after removing some of the clutter from the To Do pane options dialog. You can add a reminder to a task item and it will pop up with a reminder dialog at the appointed time. The think I don't like is that there is not a way I have found to integrate your to do list with your calendar if you are using the WE calendar, unless you schedule time to do that to do item. So, what I have often been doing for a reminder, instead of using the To do list, so to create a calendar appointment with the same start and stop time so that it sits on my calendar but doesn't block time for those trying to schedule meetings with me. Down side of this is that is adds a lot of clutter to looking at a list of my appointments using the WE Outlook calendar. Maybe I do need to try using To Do more again. I tried it when I was new to Outlook and maybe that was too soon after the transition. If it helps, I was a little confused by the terminology of follow-up, to do and task. What I think Outlook means is that you can flag an email or contact for follow-up and it adds it to your to do list. The Task list includes all to do items and any completed actions, whereas the to do list is just stuff you still have yet to do. One you are in the To Do list, you can quickly go to the ribbon and select whether you want to see things for just today or the next 7 days, but I'm not sure that view worked well with WE. Also, I found that using the context key while in the to do list gave me a lot of the handy ribbon options I need. Hope this is a good start for you. When I asked about this topic last summer, there weren't responses from many on this that actually use the feature. -----Original Message----- From: Talk [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Dave Bahr via Talk Sent: Tuesday, July 21, 2015 9:01 AM To: Window-Eyes Discussion List Subject: todo list in outlook 2010 Hi. In the tasks view of outlook, is it possible to use the todo list with window-eyes? If so, what are the recommended view settings for it?
