This isn't specific to Explorer or Windows 10 as I haven't upgraded my Windows 7/64 system. But I recently updated my video adapter driver and software control center, which by the way isn't for the particularly faint of heart, at least not with my AMD Radeon HD5450. But after doing so and plowing through the 872 options in the Catalyst control center and changing all settings which had the choices of high quality, quality, and high performance, to high performance, it made a very significant improvement in responsiveness. However, if you share your system with a sighted partner or kids they probably won't like the high performance (lower quality) display settings. But you may be able to play around and see what gives you the most and takes the least from them.

Just make sure you get the latest update from the manufacturer's site rather than the first link on a Google search that says it will provide you the update. Half the time they're not the latest updates and they're just cashing in on dumping other junk on you.

Also, if you have something like Catalyst running in the sys-tray the context menu may have an update option. I received a notice of this for mine soon after updating because they put out a new update specifically for Windows 10.

Tom

Still trying to figure this lag problem out with file explorer and
Windows 10.
Here is a little discovery. Lets say I go to my documents. It has a
lot of entries. If I press enter on my documents then press the down
arrow fairly quickly I get nothing. If I press the my documents button
then wait several seconds before hitting the down arrow I can then read
the entries. Still a little lag between down arrow and speech but much
improved. Sighted help tells me just as soon as I press the my
documents button the screen is populated with all its entries but it
must be a case of We not having access to them as quickly. Any ideas of
how to resolve this would be great. Even more evidence to this as being
the issue is if lets say you open another category such as downloads
where the list of entries is smaller you don't have to wait as long to
begin pressing the down arrow and getting speech. Don't remember this
being this way in Win 7 or Win 8.1.
