It could be the spam filter for gmail as it tends to be overly aggressive at times. You need to check that regularly as some messages from this list have a tendancy to end up there.
I would do this from the web and set your view for standard view. Then you'll be able to go in, select the link for the spam folder and then go through the contents and check those that aren't spam and click the not spam button. Likewise, repeat the process for any spam and click delete forever. Hope this helps.
