I dono that you can. That was one thing about version 39 of Thunderbird,
that really really! pissed me off. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I
hope someone knows something you and I both don't.

hi today I upgraded to the newest version of Thunderbird.
And now my mouse keys don't read in it like the used to.
In the version before they worked just fine.
So how do I get this back so I can read with the mouse keys again like in
