Hi Chris: A friend told me that the major IP vendors will pping back when a message is sent to them like from the AI2 e-mail server. If they don't get a reply from a valid e-mail address they will bounce the message back to AI2. At that point if Mailman is not set up properly then that bounced message will be added to a counter against the individual account of the sender like me or you or whoever sent the message to AI2 to go out to the list. He said that large folks, or experienced folks, have to set up things so that the server running the mailman program wont bounce the individuals from the list. This is all on the AI2 side of things. There is not a problem with individuals getting bounced from their Internet Providers but from the AI2 list where their accounts reside so it is not, as most folks seem to have been misled, their IP host bouncing them from the list. It is the AI2 Mailman who is bouncing them from the list and he says that AI2 just flat out does not have the knowledge to run a e-list but then I don't know if he really knows what he is talking about. Since you have mucked with Mailman does his explanation sound correct or am I missing something? Rick USA
