This is exactly what was happening to me at work. However I have a lab top,
but if it went to sleep, the voice refused to come back. We turned off
sleepy time and it is working like a charm.

Hi Gayle,

I assume yours is a desktop PC, and, further, that your Power Options are
configured to allow the PC to go to sleep after a period of inactivity.
I recommend changing this setting to "Never," that is, never go to sleep.
I believe that when the PC sleeps, and then tries to wake up, your sound
device doesn't re-awaken properly.

Hth,

Rod

Subject: loss of speech last Monday of month

Hi, I have Windows Vista and WE 8.4. I like to boot up at around 4:00 a.m.
every morning. If I leave the computer for a couple of hours after booting
and come back to it, There is a loss of speech. Control, alt,w doesn't bring
it back. The only way I can get it back is to do a hard reset and reboot one
more time. Is there any way to correct this? Any assistance is greatly
appreciated. Thanks. Gayle
