In order for me to know if my new laptop is on for sure, I actually have to pick it up, and put my ear on the bottom of the case, the part that would normally be sitting on the table! That's how quiet the fan and everything is. It doesn't give me the tone that says windows is closing. I get the tone when it comes on, but not when it's shutting down. This is windows 7. Pam.

just to be safe i went in just now and turned the scheduling off as
well. windows10 knows it is an ssd and configures itself different for
ssd drives. also my computer is so very quiet now. it runs so quiet its
hard to tell its even turned on.

Hi Josh,

Well, when I went into the Defrag settings, I found that all my drives were
configured to be defragmented, and I have an SSD, and so I manually turned
it off.

Hth,

Rod

windows10 automatically sees that it is an ssd and turns all that stuff
off, for that matter so does windows7.

Josh,
Great to hear your new SSD works well, and that you got the transfer
done in a swift. Just for a friendly reminder - though you may already
know all of this - be sure to turn off all disk defragmenting software
you have, or any other excessive disk writing software. Search the
net, if you want more info. SSD's are rather sensitive to writing
cycles, and if you do not turn off things like defragmenters or
wipers, your newly enjoyment could soon enough end in wreckage.

Just wanted to remind you, since I managed to damage a brand new SSD
in very short time, myself.
