i don't have win8 any more. but with win7, you can right mouse click on a blank
spot on the desktop and go to change icons.
there you can check the factory default icons you want to show on the desktop.
i don't know if it will be my pc or computer. either will put them back. you
also have network,user files, this one is usefull. control panel etc. check
them click on o k and they will show on the desktop.
