Hi,
Try setting your message composition to text.
You can also turn off browse mode. It looks like screen readers in some
situations think you should be in browse mode.
The same happened to me the other day with another screen reader.
This seems to be new with the latest TB.
Just my observations.

Chris

Subject: major thunderbird problems

Hey guys,

I am having a huge thunderbird problem. My system just randomly started
doing this, and it's annoying to say the least. I am running we 8.4,
windows 7. While i am in the middle of typing an email, thunderbird is
saying downloading page, and as i type it'll say no place marker, no
frame, stuff like that as i hit keys on the keyboard. I have to
minimize everything, then go back to the message window. This is very
annoying. On top of all that, when i press the up and down arrow in the
message window, window-eyes says nothing, or it goes ding ding ding
ding. I have tried 5 reboots, but the behavior continues. Any ideas on
how to fix this? This is quite frankly unacceptable.
