good work chris. I downloaded this yesterday, after hearing about it on "security now." It works just fine, given that I have had a mash of updates since it was installed, and windows 10 upgrade is out of site.
Take care, Joe On Wed, 16 Dec 2015 10:56:22 -0500 Chris Skarstad via Talk <[email protected]> wrote: That was probably a good thing to do. I haven't followed this thread very closely, but to prevent this windows 10 thing from happening again, you'll want to use something called GWX control panel. Note it's not a product made by GW Micro or AI squared, it's just got a similar name. Here's a link to the download page. http://ultimateoutsider.com/downloads/ I'll even make it easier for y'all. here's a direct link to the installer, and then a direct link to the stand-alone executable. The only real difference is that the installer creates entries on your start menu and puts an icon for it on your desktop. I chose the stand-alone executable, because you just run it, press enter on one button and you're done. Direct link to installer: http://ultimateoutsider.com/downloads/GwxControlPanelSetup.exe Direct link to stand-alone executable: http://ultimateoutsider.com/downloads/GWX_control_panel.exe Remember, the stand-alone executable is just something you run, so if you download that version, remember where your download folder is so you can run it. If you're not sure where your download folder is and you just wanna keep it simple, choose the installer. the setup screen is a standard one so you should have no trouble, and you can run the program just like any other piece of software. I know this is a big thing for a lot of people including me. My pc is just too old and isn't powerful enough to run Windows 10, so I wanted to take those silly update pop-up windows away, and I know a lot of you do too. Hope this helps.
