Well, once I sent my last message, the first line started reading
again. I left TB open and closed WE. After reopening WE, TB messages
are being read without repeating lines. This was a simple fix, but I
remember when there was a time that we were told to close TB before
opening WE. Is this still true?

In order to keep Thunderbird from reading the first line of the
message twice, I have found that a single character in the first line
will stop the repeat. Would it be possible to create an automatically
generated character addition to the TB Enhanced app so that it would
automatically add something at the beginning of the compose email
screen? Of course, it doesn't bother me to do this for my outgoing
messages, it is only a problem for incoming messages that begin with
an entire line of text that gets repeated. Yes, I know I am being
picky, grin.

Well, skipping a blank line did not stop the repeated reading of the
first line. I have placed a period in this test.

I have a problem where all first lines read twice. This is fine
when someone writes something like hello or hi, but when most of the
message is on the first line, it gets read and then is read a second
time. I am adding a blank line here to see if this solves the
problem. Thank you.
