You are connected by the wire and it is working as it should.
It is possible Pam is connected both wired and wireless. If Pam unplugs her
cable from the back of the computer, my guess is she'll still be online.

The insert-w command only works with wireless connections.
For example, I'm connected by Ethernet and I hear the message, 5 networks
available. If I turn off my built in wireless adapter, I hear "not connected."

Hope this helps,
Chris

Well, that's interesting, since my desktop is connected via ethernet cable
, but when I do the insert w, it says the name of my wireless network, and
that I am connected. Pam.

On your desktop, are you connected wirelessly or through a wire directly to
the router?
If the wire, that makes sense as it only checks the wireless connection
status.

Subject: Problem with insert w

The docs for Window-eyes 9.3.1 state that Insert w has been defined as a
hot key which tells the internet network connectivity status. On my
Windows 10 desktop, pressing insert w causes a message to be spoken
"winamp cannot be found." So I am assuming that somewhere along the
way, Insert w was defined as a short cut to the Winamp player. If this
be the case, how do I undefined it so that it will in fact read the
internet network connectivity?

Thanks.

Don Roberts
