I am guessing. On many dynamic web pages, as you arrow down or press Tab, much of the content of the browse buffer is being rewritten with each keystroke. When you are in Browse mode, W-E has to be ready to read all of that stuff, so your computer is constantly processing a lot of data. This is why Read to End sometimes doesn't work correctly or consistently in web pages anymore. When you are out of Browse mode, W-E only has to speak the item that was focused with the Tab key, which is usually a shorter string. Some of these pages are really web applications, relying on a lot of JavaScript to continually alter parts of the page as you traverse it. As I said, this is only a guess, but starting at Window-Eyes 9, as well s newer versions of JAWS and NVDA, this is the web world we need to grapple with.

Subject: Question Concerning Browse Mode

This does not rise to the level of a complaint; just a curiosity. This
occurs on my IE-MSN home page, and certain websites, most notably,

http://www.nyrmb

When I tab through the links in browse mode, WE seems sluggish, but if I
turn browse mode off, I can tab faster and each link is read
consistently. Most other sites I've been to, don't have this issue.
Can anything be done?

Nick
