Hi, Dan. Congratulations! However, you will be missed. Thanks for all
you've accomplished at GW Micro and now AISquared. My continuing
employment was, in many respects, due to you and GW Micro's commitment to
helping those of us who are blind or visually impaired by developing
Window-Eyes to where it is today. Imagine what it might have been like if
I had to buy multiple copies of a screenreader package just to do my job?
The competition would have required it, since I had to oversee eight PC's
in my facility, and each had to have a screenreader installed so I could
do everything from start them up at the beginning of the day, to perfoming
security checks on them at random. If you folks didn't understand my
predicament, I might have lost this job, due to the sheer expense of
having to have multiple screenreader packages purchased and installed.
Aside from all the above, though, thanks for your service and effort at
making Window-Eyes work for us, thereby helping us go to work.--Matthew

I am retiring.
My career in the Assistive Technology industry started in the late 80's,
working for Computer Aids Corp. for a couple years, where I met Doug
Geoffray. Then I partnered with Doug to launch GW Micro in 1990 which
operated for 24 years, followed by our merging into Ai Squared in 2014.
So now, after almost 28 years in the AT industry, it's time for me to
take a break. I will be retired from Ai Squared after this week. No
worries - the rest of the Fort Wayne office and staff will continue as
normal - whatever normal means <smile>.
I'm not very active on this list but I look at many of the posts and I
know many of your names even if we rarely talk on the phone or meet in
person. I will continue to support Ai Squared and if the opportunity
presents itself who knows - I might come back for a few special projects
from time to time. Thank you very much for your support and friendship.
One thing I understand - this industry is very different from all others.
The people I know not only want to stay active, employed or stay in
business but they also want to make the world a better place by providing
quality products and services. You should all be proud of whatever
contribution you personally make.
Thank you all again for your friendship and loyalty over the many years.
Take care,
Dan
