Hi, Folks. Thanks much for all the suggestions. Bypass and shift-ctrl-n worked for me. Will try the other ones later. Thought the command went away in Windows 10, and I was going nuts trying to figure it out. What a great list!--Matthew Chao

You can also just hit Alt to open the ribbon, which will always default to the File tab, and then press the number 2. This gives you the same New Folder dialog and it doesn't matter whether anything is selected or not.

Hi Matthew,

In the list view of the folder within which you wisht to create a folder, press Control-spacebar to ensure that no file or folder within the list view
is selected.
Then, press the Applications key or Shift-F10, and press W which is the
shortcut for New in the context menu which opens.
At this point, the folder is created and you're in the familiar edit box
where you can edit the selected text, that text being "New folder."

Hth,

Rod

Subject: Creating a New Folder in Windows 10

Hi, Folks. I want to create a new folder in Windows 10, but can't seem
to do it like I could in Windows 7 ( alt-f, w). When I try to do that
in Windows 10, I get a create new window. How do I create a new
folder? Am also using the classic powershell which might be part of the
problem. Thanks in advance.--Matthew Chao
