Pam: because Microsoft has effectively trashed Internet Explorer as its long term application for internet access. However: in so doing - it did not built accessibility into the new Edge browser.
It is probably likely that Internet Explorer will be available for some time yet, but its days are numbered. And I am one of those Window-Eyes users who experiences IE crashes on an all-to-frequent basis.
