I seem to have the same problem.

Hi Gang, I’ve been of the opinion that the focus issues are with Windows
ever since Windows 7. But not I’m beginning to believe it’s WE that is
habving focus problems. Sometimes when focus is lost, no matter what I do I
can’t get WE to go to the desktop. Windows key D, M don’t work. Nor, does
tabbing around to I hear “show desktop. If I restart WE with ctrl, alt W all
is fine again. The thing is, is even though WE will not go to the desktop
the desktop is there and if I hit “W” for windows Live Mail, the highlight
goes to the windows live mail. This has been verified by a sighted person.
So, I starting to believe that WE is what is loosing focus. Any
suggestions???
