Welcome to the world of Facebook. Safari users on Macintosh have encountered similar behaviours for several years. The solution was to bring up a developer mode, and change “User Agent” to a older or mobile browser.
I don’t know if this is possible on the Windows side of things. On the other hand, Facebook is working better with screen readers with ARIA live regions speaking relevant information.
