Hey Rod, I don't know if this will fit your needs, but here's my setup.
For caller ID I have two methods. My cordless phones (Panasonic I think) have audible caller ID. And be it that the phone companies are trying to drive everyone off of land lines I switched my land line to my internet service provider a couple years ago for a fraction of the price.
I can go to their site and look at my call history. And they also convert my messages to text and send them to me via email. Of course I still get the audio message on my phone. So it might be worth looking into.
