But of course when reading by word and to an extent line there is no or little context. If the synth is sent a sentence then there's context. But they can only do so much on the fly with these homonyms. And screen-readers are the ultimate challenge given the way they work. Consider a talking device which speaks its own menus, options, messages, etc. In such an environment the entire vocabulary and contextual use is known in advance. So the same synth can be programmed to be phonetically perfect for each of the relatively small number of speech events that will occur.
