Hello Andre, How do I do Research? Good question.
And do I get paid for doing it? I wish. It started out with me because I am a Curious guy. Plus I never take No for an Answer, especially if I smell there is more to the story than what I have been told. My work is more Theological, but I do look into subjects that are not strictly Theological. Currently I am collecting info about Near Death Experiences, known as NDE's. Starting out with a basic curiosity, what are they, what are the accounts of those who have had them. Are there similarities. Are there similarities across Race, and Cultural lines? Do those from other Countries, where there are other Religions have the same experiences as those from other Nations that lean more towards Christianity? What about those who have an NDE that are not Religious at all? Are there any similarities. Andre, I then may try to find someone who has had an NDE so I may ask them questions of my own. I may find such a person, or several people that have had NDE experiences on a Web Site where the Web site is dedicated to keeping track of and reporting and recording testimonies of those who have had an NDE. When I find such a place, and there are such places, I may contact someone and ask them if they would be willing to talk with me by phone. This is a project I am working on right now. I am still not sure just how far I will take it. I seem to be hearing many of the same kinds of reports but not much new when it comes to new information. Even those that had have such NDE experiences often have no idea where they were, or why they experienced what they experienced. One common outcome for many of these people is they no longer fear death. Even those who were Non-religious seem to have little fear of the life after this one. Another subject I started out with because of curiosity was investigating something a Bible verse said. Something I researched a little before this was that in the Bible, it states that the World will be Blessed through the Jews. I have noticed that Jews have been a Target for several thousand years, dating all the way back to Abraham, Isaac and Ishmael. Since then, there have been constant friction between the Jews and the rest of the world, especially those nations that are bordering the land that would become Israel. I am not Jewish myself, but I have wondered why there is such Hatred towards a population of people that number only about 20 Million worldwide. Going on the verse that said the World would be Blessed through the Jews, I started, and accidentally stumbled on a piece that someone else had written. I took from it what info it would give me, which was a list of a few medical breakthrough discovered by Jewish doctors and researchers. I checked out the Nobel Peace Prizes and found that through about 2005, as many as 130 Men and women of Jewish ancestry had won the Peace Prize for their work in every category the Peace Prize covers. Along with the verse that expresses the World would be Bless through the Jews, it also states that any who fight against the Jews will be cursed. The Muslims have fought the Jews since about the 7th Century, and since the Nobel Peace Prize has been given, only about 7 Muslims have won it, and most of those for something they have written. For instance yaser Arafat and President Obama have both won the Nobel Peace prize. Both for writing about Peace. Although, I will leave it to you whether or not either of these men were truly Peaceful. Certainly Yaser Arafat was no Peace lover, especially towards the Jews. So this little Report was started out by my reading a verse that caught my attention, and it built from there. Surprisingly, there indeed has been a Ton of stuff that has come from those who are Jewish, that any would think of as a blessing. I mean the list is overwhelmingly long. As for making money at doing this- I have a good friend that keeps telling me I should sell my services. The problem is that I am incredibly slow. If I land on a new Web site, I might be able to make sense of it within 45 minutes, or after stumbling around for a couple of hours, I still may not be able to do much with the site. Before I acquired this current old/new machine, I was having massive problems doing much on line. Since WE 9 came along, I have had nightmare issues with it. That is until a few weeks ago when this new system came along. I still have troubles on many web sites. But since I am not working for anyone but myself and a few friends, I do not worry too much about those Web Sites I cannot get to. I go with what info I can find and leave it at that. If I were to sell my work, I would feel like I may have not given them everything that was available, since some web sites are really hard to navigate. I have thought of applying for work at one of those Detective places. I probably could find information about people. But then again, I work so stinking slow, someone sighted could probably do the same work in a quarter of the time it takes me. I am not trying to discourage you, but just telling you why I hesitate and do not take myself all that serious. If you are a Curios person, and like finding out new stuff, the Internet is a Treasure Trove of Information. Some good, and a lot that is just Rubbish. As for where to post On Line, that depends upon what it is you are wanting to post. There are mailing lists like this one, which usually have a very limited membership. There are Blogs where thousands of people come to read and to comment. If you post your work, be prepared to be ripped apart by any who dislike what you say or do, and there is always some who will object and put down anything you post. The Written Word is so easily misunderstood, especially by those with a Chip on their shoulders, and there are a lot of these types out there. I recently logged into a site that is made for those who hate God. And what a Place this is! Bitterness drips from most of the posts. God is blamed for everything. God doesn't exist. Christians are blamed and hated and more of the same. The site owner had posted his long list of objections to God. I have been collecting bits and pieces of info for the last few months, because I am thinking of posting my answers to many of their Anti-God questions and statements. Many people are incredibly bitter towards God. The reasons are many, and some don't make any sense. But they drip venom and don't mind at all ripping you apart if you should make the attempt to answer their rant. Ha ha! Speaking of posting in Wild places. I once belonged to a group that were made of of hard Core Communists. Not kidding. And these guys were quite a bunch They too hated God, Christians, Republicans, Conservatives, the Constitution, the Rich, and their list went on and on. The place was filled with Angry people. And for the most part they encouraged each other by repeating the same old blanket statements that blamed everyone but themselves for their lives of oppression. Their answer was to take from those who had something to take, and bring oppression to those who they believed to be guilty for their own problems. I made a few comments from time to time. Usually ending with several of them telling me I was Screwed up in the Head or worse. But I stuck around and started asking pointed questions, and not allowing them to rant with the same old All Rich should be killed or put in Jail response. I finely told them that it didn't matter which form of Government was in place. Socialism, Communism, or even Capitalism, if the population was not self-governing, and did not have a heart for others, that government would eat itself as well as the wealth and wellbeing of the population it was meant to protect. I told them without Love for your fellow man, nothing was going to work. Without Love all you have is Strife and Warfare, where the strongest takes from the weak. For once, these guys had absolutely nothing to say. Love? Not once in the weeks I spent reading their posts was Love or any sort of concern for others expressed. All they did was rant about how unfair life was, and that someone else should pay and pay dearly if possible. A few days went by and they were back to their ranting about how unfair life was and how those with the wealth should be separated from their wealth. I stopped visiting but it was an Education, and I was able to ask Card Carrying Communists their thoughts on several issues. Getting it from the Horse's mouth so to speak. So, all of this to say, sure, you can do Research. If you have some sight, you might be faster than I am, and you might be able to sell, or contract with someone who will pay you to collect various types of information. The Internet is a Wide and Wild place and it is easy to find someone who will tell you about some topic. It seems incredible, but I swear there is a Web Site for just about every subject you might think of and then some. If you collect Paper Dolls, there are web sites dedicated to the collecting of Paper Dolls! If you like Hot Wheels Cars, there are loads of sites dealing with this subject. Politics? Too many sites to count. Need Statistics? Yep there are sites where you can obtain the Stats you are looking for. I have found these sites a bit harder to locate, since this sort of info is usually found in some Corporations web site, or on some government site, and those sites at least for me, are really hard to find stuff. But it is out there. If you have the time, and can navigate with a Screen Reader, you can find out answers to your own questions, and maybe make money finding answers for those who will pay you for that info. Don't let my reluctance to sell stuff hold you up. My reluctance is probably more my problem than anyone else's. I may spend a day looking for info, and then again, I may spend several months collecting info before I put something together. And a lot of the time, I never really finish because I cannot get a Web site to read well, or I just cannot find where to look. Or I cannot think of the right name or title to search for. A while back I wanted to look up Laws, but I really had no idea what to even look under. And as they say, Garbage in equals Garbage out. So if I go in looking for something, I usually need to look under several names, subjects, and even Hunches. And even then I might come up dry. I know the info is out there, but just cannot think of a way to narrow down the searching. Anyway, this is a very long reply, and all I can say is find a topic that you have a great deal of interest, and start looking on the Web for places that will increase what you know about the topic. Collect the info and then when you think you have enough, go through the collected info, just as you would when doing a research paper in school. Put what you find into your own words and post it where you think others might be interested in reading your findings. I still use Youtube, at least to start my search. Recently I was wanting to know more about the topic of Fatalism. I started by looking on Youtube, and there was a video or two about the subject. Sometimes the video will have links to other sites where more info can be found. When there are these extra links, I follow them and I usually end up on a site where I can read more about the topic of the video. This may give me other ideas to look up in a general Internet search. It is a Starting point, and it can lead to places that are dedicated to the subject, and this is where you may find people who will offer their help, or even be willing to speak to you by phone.
