I am running Window-eyes 9.4 on an HP desktop whose operating system is
Windows 10. The problem I am about to describe is not screen reader
specific, but I am hopeful that some list member may know of a solution.
After this machine has been put into sleep mode, it is difficult to get
it to come out. I usually press the escape key to wake it up, after
which Eloquence utters several unintelligible syllables. Now comes the
tricky part. I tab slowly and hear things such as "ease of access,"
"shut down," and ultimately "unlock." However, if I tab too rapidly or
too slowly, the system locks up requiring a hard reset. On at least two
and possibly three occasions, the machine would not reboot; and, since I
had no speech, I got sighted help and ultimately resorted to a system
restore to an earlier date.
I vaguely remember seeing a post, possibly on this list, that this
problem is peculiar to some HP computers. So if there is either a fix
or a reliable work around, please provide the specifics.
Thanks in advance.
