Hi Reg, It probably has to do with how successful Windows is at determining how the sound devices are enumerated, that is, how Windows detects them and puts them in a list. I have had the same experience as you, and I have found that the best solution is to make the one you want Window-Eyes to always come up on as the default sound device on the system. Further, that device needs to remain active, and I wrote an app called AudioActivity, available on App Central, to keep it alive.

The Prolific USB to Serial convertor I use for my old Apolo II comes up every time at startup if selected. But, as I said in my last post on this subject, the sound device associated with my Vocalizer Expressive voice, changes occasionally, and on an apparently random basis. Does anyone know why? -- Reg <[email protected]> On Thu, 26 May 2016 02:17:56 +0000 Rod Hutton via Talk <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi, > > If you tab through the Synthesizers dialog box with your synthesizer > selected, you will encounter a combo box allowing you to select the > sound device to use. > > Hth, > > Rod > > -----Original Message----- > From: Talk > [mailto:[email protected]] On > Behalf Of ratshtron via Talk > Sent: May 25, 2016 3:00 PM > To: ratshtron <[email protected]>; Window-Eyes Discussion > List <[email protected]> > Subject: Re: directing window-eyes to go through a different sound > device > > hmmm, by some miracle, i found how to do what i asked in my revious message. > thanks. > > > Legend has it that on Wednesday 5/25/2016 01:50 PM, ratshtron via Talk said: > ---------------------------------------- > >is there any way to redirect window-eyes to speak through a secondary > >sound device? i have a usb sound adapter that i would like to use for > >window-eyes while all other sounds go through the main computer's > >sound device. thanks. > > > > > > > > > ><http://www.sendspace.com/folder/i7xwg4>Click here to check out my > >sendspace offerings! > > > > > >_______________________________________________ > >Any views or opinions presented in this email are solely those of the > >author and do not necessarily represent those of Ai Squared. > > > >For membership options, visit > >http://lists.window-eyes.com/options.cgi/talk-window-eyes.com/northst > >ar1950 > %40skybeammail.com. > >For subscription options, visit > >http://lists.window-eyes.com/listinfo.cgi/talk-window-eyes.com > >List archives can be found at > >http://lists.window-eyes.com/private.cgi/talk-window-eyes.com > ---------------------------------------- > > > > <http://www.sendspace.com/folder/i7xwg4>Click here to check out my > sendspace offerings! > > > _______________________________________________ > Any views or opinions presented in this email are solely those of the > author and do not necessarily represent those of Ai Squared. > > For membership options, visit > http://lists.window-eyes.com/options.cgi/talk-window-eyes.com/rod_hutt > on%40h > otmail.com. > For subscription options, visit > http://lists.window-eyes.com/listinfo.cgi/talk-window-eyes.com > List archives can be found at > http://lists.window-eyes.com/private.cgi/talk-window-eyes.com > _______________________________________________ > Any views or opinions presented in this email are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Ai Squared. > > For membership options, visit http://lists.window-eyes.com/options.cgi/talk-window-eyes.com/regwebb%40btin ternet.com. > For subscription options, visit > http://lists.window-eyes.com/listinfo.cgi/talk-window-eyes.com > List archives can be found at > http://lists.window-eyes.com/private.cgi/talk-window-eyes.com _______________________________________________ Any views or opinions presented in this email are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Ai Squared.
