Hi Reg,

It probably has to do with how successful Windows is at determining how the
sound devices are enumerated, that is, how Windows detects them and puts
them in a list.
I have had the same experience as you, and I have found that the best
solution is to make the one you want Window-Eyes to always come up on as the
default sound device on the system.
Further, that device needs to remain active, and I wrote an app called
AudioActivity, available on App Central, to keep it alive.

Yes, that's how it's supposed to work and, most of the time it does. 
The Prolific USB to Serial convertor I use for my old Apolo II comes up
every time at startup if selected.  But, as I said in my last post on this
subject, the sound device associated with my Vocalizer Expressive
voice,changes occasionally, and on an apparently random basis.  Does anyone
know why?
