The problem with that is if customers don't purchase new releases, there will not be a Window-Eyes. I decided soon after its release that Window-Eyes for Office had two conflicting objectives. The first being to spread access to a high quality screen reader to people who could not afford such, but the second was to admit that on-going development of Window-eyes was/is under severe pressure.
If people decide to stay with window-Eyes for Office at any price, and as Window-eyes development stalls, you are then locked into legacy products. There is no doubt that Windows will under-go substantial change and there will be a screen reader of some sort. If it is a user pays for screen reader, versus no screen reader because the free one will not function - then what happens?
