I don't believe this is actually identity theft, just a simple mistake being made at the server end of the email list. but you are right, ignoring the messages is probably the best thing to do. usually this happen when someone's email bounces. To put this in really simple terms for whatever reason, someone's email got sent, but for whatever reason it didn't make it all the way to its destonation so the server for this list sent a notification message saying that the email message had bounced. or in other cases, it's the kind of message you get when you first join the list. Either way, it's absolutely not any kind of identity theft at all. Relax, and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
