I believe it's a Window-Eyes issue, as NVDA and even Narrator doesn't have
that issue.
With Window-Eyes, the first time you press F2 to edit a cell, you can hear
the cell contents when you use your left or right arrow keys. However,
subsequent presses of F2 yields no audible results.
I have written to support about this, and hopefully there will be a fix
soon.

Chris,
This is helpful but won't work if she needs to make a correction. Is there
a problem with F2 in Excel 2016? I'm not there yet but will probably have
to be there before long.
Best regards,
Steve Jacobson

Hi,
If you are just checking spelling, just hit shift-control-d twice.
This will spell out the contents of the cell.

Subject: Working with Excel 2016
Hi all,
When I'm in a particular cell that I want to check, I cannot read what's in
that cell when pressing
the f2 keystroke. I thought this was the "edit" keystroke. What setting am
I missing? I need to
check the spelling of names for accuracy. Thank you for help here.
